Advisors and Team Members
Mr. Jason is a Senior Advisor at Summer Street Advisors (SSA), responsible for developing transaction strategies, leading transactions and developing new business. Mr. Jason is an asset management and transactional executive with over 25 years of experience in banking, law and real estate/asset management, having worked for large Fortune 500 corporations and entrepreneurial start-up firms.
Prior to working with SSA, Mr. Jason has served as a Principal providing strategic real estate services to owners, start-up companies, investors, advisors and financial institutions. Immediately prior, Mr. Jason served as Chief Operating Officer of Pantheon Properties, a fully integrated owner/operator of "value add" industrial properties in Metropolitan New York and Florida. Previously, Mr. Jason served in senior strategic roles (including General Counsel) with Goldman Sachs/Whitehall Street Real Estate Fund affiliates, including building one affiliate into one of the largest Whitehall Fund operating partners in North America. During his tenure, he directed and managed the negotiations of significant transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, financing and leasing of over 7 million square feet of "opportunistic," turnaround type of assets valued in excess of $1 billion. His responsibilities also included creating and recommending action plans for all major joint venture operations and transactions. Earlier in his career, Mr. Jason spent a number of years as an attorney in the Real Estate Departments of the law firms Schulte Roth & Zabel and Robinson Silverman (now Bryan Cave). Mr. Jason began his real estate career in the banking industry where he served as a Vice President and Team Leader with Marine Midland Bank (now Hong Kong Shanghai Bank) in their real estate finance group.
Mr. Jason earned a bachelor’s degree as an Honors Scholar in Economics from the University of Connecticut and holds a JD degree from New York Law School. Mr. Jason is also a Past President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of New York.
Mr. Evans brings 22 years of commercial real estate experience to Summer Street Advisors, including five years at GE Real Estate, two years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, three years at Laventhol & Horwath, and 10+ years owning and operating a real estate and golf consulting practice. His diverse institutional and entrepreneurial background includes valuation, underwriting, and credit analyses, merger & acquisitions, loan asset management. Mr. Evans’ expertise includes evaluating golf, recreation, and lodging properties, as well as general experience involving multi-family, office, retail and industrial property types. He underwrote over $2 billion in debt for golf, hotel, and other specialty property-types, maintaining delinquency rates of less than 1% through Q1 2009. Mr. Evans attended Miami University to receive his BA/BS in Finance. He is Six Sigma Green Belt Certified and MAI - one of only 24 members of Society of Golf Appraisers.
Ms. Hofstedt has over 22 years commercial real estate experience, including six years at GE Real Estate, nine years at JP Morgan Chase and its predecessor institutions, and five plus years owning and operating a commercial real estate consulting practice. Her diverse institutional background, includes valuation and underwriting, credit analysis, relationship management, loan placements, workout and disposition. Ms.Hofstedt’s expertise is in a variety of property types, including office, multi-family, hotel, retail, industrial, self-storage, as well as development properties.
At GE, Ms. Hofstedt prepared marketing materials for GE loan placements of closed loans, including both A and B-pieces of single asset loans, and portfolio transactions containing up to 400 assets. Ms. Hoftstedt’s transactions represented more than $6B in debt and encompassed all commercial property types. Ms. Hoftedt attended Cornell University to secure a BS in Finance and is Six Sigma Green Belt Certified.
Mr. Gentile brings over 10 years of commercial real estate experience in a variety of functions, with a specific focus on various niche real estate classes including single family land development, manufactured home communities, RV resorts and marinas, in addition to traditional property types. His diverse background includes institutional and entrepreneurial experience with KB Home, GE Real Estate, Morgan RV Resorts and his own real estate management and consulting firm Lighthouse Marina Management, formed in 2010.
He successfully sourced, entitled and closed 3 successful developments including the division’s first townhome project while at KB Home and helped originate and close over $400MM in debt and equity transactions while at GE Real Estate. After overseeing all operations, marketing and financial reporting for a portfolio of 9 RV resorts and 3 marinas throughout the State of Florida for the largest private owner of RV resorts in the US, he formed his own marina management and consulting company with two industry veterans focused on the turnaround and stabilization of underperforming marina assets throughout Florida.
Mr. Gentile holds a BS in Urban Planning from Southwest Texas State, a Masters in Real Estate from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Florida. Mr. Gentile also holds a Florida Real Estate sales license and a mortgage originator’s license.
Mr. Farina brings over 20 years of commercial real estate experience including 8 years as Vice President at GE Real Estate where he originated and underwrote bridge loans, CMBS loans, mezzanine debt, and joint venture equity investments. He also worked as Vice President and Team Leader for Wells Fargo Bank originating, underwriting, closing and administration of a portfolio of commercial real estate loans. His experience includes office, retail, industrial, multifamily, hotel, self storage, and manufactured housing communities. He has personally originated well over $1 billion of debt and equity transactions during his career. These transactions have included new construction, value added transactions as well as stabilized properties. He also has significant experience in workouts and restructuring of distressed commercial real estate portfolios.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Farina worked for the real estate operating companies VMS Realty Partners and Homart Development where he performed roles in asset management and financial reporting.
Mr. Farina holds a BS in Accounting from Bradley University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Rojas joins Summer Street Advisors with 12 years of diverse experience as a Business Analyst and Software Product Developer, including four years with GE Real Estate. He has executed over $21B in debt, leverage equity, and M&A deals in commercial real estate across all major asset classes. Mr. Rojas was an associate underwriter with GE's Global Sponsor Finance group evaluating debt financing for private equity sponsors.His expertise is in commercial real estate cash flow analysis, structured finance, mergers & acquisitions, GAAP accounting, financial/economic model design, financial analysis and underwriting.
Mr. Rojas attended Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management to gain an MBA with concentrations in Finance, Strategy, International Business, and Real Estate and received his bachelors in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida. Mr. Rojas is proficient in Excel, Visual Basic, Argus, DYNA, C++, and Matlab.
Mr. Shubert has over 15 years of diverse experience as a financial and strategic advisor. He was previously a Director at Amper Investment Banking, providing merger and acquisition, capital formation, and strategic advice to middle-market firms. He was also the Director of Research at Beechtree Capital, a boutique venture capital investor and advisor to early-stage enterprises. Mr. Shubert started his career at Bridgewater Associates, an institutional asset manager. Mr. Shubert is an expert on financial modeling and analytics development, and has constructed sophisticated financial models for publicly traded firms, middle-market businesses, and newly-established enterprises. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from MIT.
Mr. Mattison brings over 20 years experience as an asset management attorney at TIAA-CREF, to Summer Street Advisors. While at TIAA-CREF, Mr Mattison served as lead counsel to TIAA's structured finance team with expertise in CMBS, RMBS, REITs, and real estate CDOs. He has significant experience in workouts, restructurings and distressed investments. Mr. Mattison attended Cornell University to secure his JD and Vanderbilt University where he received his BA.
